Start your day on a high note and watch the sunrise from Mt. Batur!
Admire the unique natural phenomenon, the formation of double craters and a crescent-shaped 7 km long & 1,5 km wide volcanic lake, featuring a plethora of changing colors. The trek begins in the early hours of the morning. At the base of the volcano, you’ll begin your ascent. Take in the stunning views of the surrounding landscape as you climb, as well as the incredible sunrise that will greet you at the summit. Once at the top, you’ll be rewarded with incredible views of the Batur caldera, the lake and the distant mountain peaks. You’ll also be able to witness the active volcanic activity, with steam vents and bubbling hot springs.
We depart at approx 1-1:30 am with the goal of arriving at our first basecamp approx 3:30.
Journey north-east to the active sacred volcano Mt. Batur, found inside the UNESCO Global Geopark, district of Bangli. The travel time to the destination is around 1-1½ hours.
Prior to our Yatra, you may leave any unneeded items in our support van, located close by.
Our guides will provide you with an overview of your mountain trek, along with a safety briefing, to help you get prepared for your journey to one of Bali's holy mountains.We will then proceed to the local temple, where we will perform a short Balinese ritual before heading off on our journey.
Upon arriving at our first basecamp, we’ll prepare for our two-hour hike. Until sunrise the trek is in total darkness.
The trek will take you through the protected forest inside the caldera walls, as the colors of the lava gradually shift, providing a vivid reminder of the various pyroclastic flows and tephra that have taken place over time.
As we reach the summit, the first glimmers of sunlight appear on the horizon, and the breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding mountains is revealed. We take a moment to pause and appreciate the beauty of nature while enjoying a light breakfast.
As you make your way around the crater, you will be able to experience the incredible beauty of the area and take in the stunning views of the lake and surrounding countryside.
As we make our way down Mount Batur, we will notice monkeys playing in the early morning mist.
Upon completion of the trek, you will be invited to the outer caldera, located 1031 m.a.s, where you can indulge in a delectable brunch with a breathtaking view of the volcano and Lake Batur.
Enjoy the stunning panorama and a pleasant ending to the journey, before returning to your hotel or place of preference sometime between noon and 1 pm.

The activity level for climbing Mount Batur is marked moderate to difficult. It is a steep and strenuous climb that requires physical effort, determination, and stamina. However, the views from the summit are breathtaking and the sense of accomplishment that comes with making it to the top is well worth the effort.
