BUMI YATRA - Mother Earth's Secret Pilgrimage
It seems that to have consideration for and real connection with our
Mother Earth requires us to get out of our minds. How interesting that
that phrase - to get out of your mind - has less than positive
connotations. And yet, unless and until we make that effort to delve
deep and wide into our minds, to check out what those voices are
telling us, to see things truly as they are, until that effort is made
it really appears that everything IS as it seems to be; and then the
voices can continue to be ignored in the same way as the humming of
the fridge is ignored, and for sure there is no WAY there is any spare
time in a life for delving. The mind will tell us this over and over
again until at last something will give, loosen, displace, break down,
cry out, and the tremendous realisation comes, that mind is not IT,
that mind cannot give us IT, and that IT must be looked for in other
places, in other ways. Everything comes home to RIGHT NOW, this moment
- the pilgrimage starts now, now that we got out of our minds.
And then Mother Earth can show us her charms, her gentleness, her
violence, her diversity, beauty, strength, elegance, her moment by
moment creation, her power, all of this without our usual
mind-commentary. The mind is there, accept it. Acceptance of our minds
as they are is good, but only as a prerequisite for action. Accept it
but don't necessarily believe it. Accept it but don't hold onto it any
longer. On the pilgrimage believe only that which can be experienced
first hand, and right there and then is where full knowledge of how
things really are begins to reveal itself. The Earth is the Mother and
Humanity her recalcitrant kids, of whom fortunately so many are now
growing up and into this kind of awareness. Still so much to learn,
but such a brilliant journey; away from self harm and harm of the
Earth towards connection and consideration, and more and more
understanding of exactly what it's going to take to make things
different, and together to become that difference. If we can just keep
getting out of our minds there's real hope for that change :)
