Experience Hindu-Balinese culture through Yoga and a water ceremony
Uncover the distinctive Hindu-Balinese culture by immersing yourself in a full day of Yoga. We will begin the day with a soothing and calming class to ease you into the day. To complete the day, we will end with a traditional Balinese water ceremony, which is a powerful and meaningful way to mark the end of the day and give thanks for the experiences of the day.
Your day begins with a pick-up from your preferred location and a journey to Penestanan Kaja, a village located in the Ubud area of Bali. Renowned for its unique cultural and artistic features, the village is home to many local artists and has preserved its traditional Balinese architecture.
We’ll meet together in the village of Penestanen Kaja, just out of Ubud, at our unique Yoga Shala, Under The Banyan Tree.
The huge tree which enfolds the Shala gives an especially organic quality to our Yoga class together - a gentle grounding and heart-opening session.
We’ll walk a short walk to our little nest, which is surrounded by rice paddies and views of both sacred mountains - Batu Karu and Agung. Step by step, we’ll guide you how to make your own little flower-offering-basket that you later will offer at the water temple. These flower baskets, that we call Canang Sari, are being offered every day. According to Balinese beliefs, smoke from the incense sticks carries your offering to all the Gods, Goddesses and ancestors.
Home cooked vegan lunch is served on the terrace with the sounds of ducks and birds and the soothing feeling of the breeze.
Before we head out to the water temple, we’ll get dressed with the appropriate and traditional Balinese ceremonial clothes, so you can enter the sacred areas and temples.
Over the bamboo bridge and through Ubud’s backroads, we’ll son reach the waterfall temple, where we will guide you through the different steps of the traditional Balinese water ceremony, called Melukat.
Melukat is an important ceremony in Bali. The word comes from “ Lukat”, which means cleaning the body and mind from the 6 enemies, sad ripus or sad aris. These enemies, anger, greed, lust, envy, pride and confusion, are not enemies outside, but a possibility within all of us.
The ceremony is a very powerful and profound experience, which helps us to connect with the divine and to balance our physical, mental and spiritual aspects.
Before we leave the waterfall temple, you will have the opportunity to take a dip in the sacred waters for a cleansing and purifying bath to complete your whole experience.
On the way up, we make an exotic juice stop at our friend Wayan's place. Wayan loves flowers and grows varieties that resemble those seen in the Avatar movie. From the terrace, the lush jungle can be seen in all its glory.

Enjoy the stunning panorama and a pleasant ending to the journey, before returning to your hotel or place of preference sometime around 3 - 4 pm.
Yoga day starts with a gentle Sama yoga flow, which typically involves a series of slow and fluid movements that are accessible to all levels. This can include gentle warm-up exercises, sun salutations, and gentle flowing sequences that help to stretch and mobilize the body. The emphasis is on moving mindfully with the breath and exploring a range of movements that feel comfortable and safe for each individual.
